The year 2010 was a memorable period of spiritual enrichment and cultural engagement for the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar. Through religious lectures, Qur’anic activities, Ramadan programmes, Eid celebrations, and family-oriented gatherings, the community strengthened its bonds of faith while preserving its cultural identity. These initiatives provided valuable opportunities for worship, reflection, and fellowship, contributing to the continued growth of the organization and its members.

The year began with a successful Islamic Lecture Programme held in January at the Saudi Markaz. The event featured an enlightening lecture by Sheikh A.C. Agar Mohamed, Deputy Director of Jamiah Naleemia, while Dr. M.A.M. Shukri, Director of Jamiah Naleemia, delivered the keynote address. The programme attracted significant participation and set a spiritually uplifting tone for the year's activities.

Throughout the year, the community benefited from a series of Public Bayan Programmes featuring renowned Islamic scholars. Distinguished speakers including Dr. Zakir Naik, As-Sheikh Imran Abu Musa, Sheikh Yousuf Mufti, and Sheikh Rizvi Mufti addressed audiences on various aspects of Islamic teachings and contemporary issues. These gatherings were widely attended and provided meaningful opportunities for religious learning and reflection.

One of the organization's longest-standing initiatives, the SLMQ Qur’an Classes, continued successfully during 2010. Established to provide Qur’anic and Islamic education to children of Sri Lankan Muslim families residing in Qatar, the programme completed its ninth consecutive year. The classes remained an important platform for nurturing religious understanding among young learners while helping preserve Islamic values within the community.

The year also witnessed the successful organization of the Qur’an Class Competition, which encouraged students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills acquired through regular Qur’anic studies. Around fifty students participated in the event, which was well attended by parents and family members. The competition highlighted the enthusiasm of young participants and reflected the community’s commitment to religious development.

During the blessed month of Ramadan, several important programmes brought the community together in an atmosphere of worship and brotherhood. The organization participated in the annual Qatar Guest Centre Ifthar Programme arranged for the Sri Lankan community. Another significant gathering was the Ministry of Interior and RAF Ifthar Programme, where members joined fellow worshippers for spiritual reflection and communal breaking of the fast. On this occasion, Sheikh A.C. Agar Mohamed delivered an inspiring religious lecture that was highly appreciated by attendees.

A major highlight of the Ramadan season was the SLMQ Family Ifthar Programme, held at Al Arabi Sports Club. The event brought together numerous families who gathered to observe the spirit of Ramadan through prayer, reflection, and fellowship. The programme strengthened relationships among members while reinforcing the values of unity and gratitude associated with the holy month.

Religious celebrations continued with the organization of Eid-ul-Fitr Prayers and Eid-ul-Adha Prayers at the Sri Lankan Embassy premises. These gatherings recorded one of the highest attendances in recent years, demonstrating the growing participation and unity of the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar. The collective prayers provided a meaningful opportunity for worshippers to celebrate these sacred occasions together.

Adding a festive cultural dimension to the year’s activities was Eid Fiesta 2010, held on 18 November at Al Hambal Grounds. The event brought together families and friends for a day of celebration, recreation, and social interaction. The gathering fostered a strong sense of community spirit while providing an enjoyable environment for members of all ages to celebrate together.

Looking back, 2010 stands out as a year marked by spiritual growth, religious learning, and vibrant cultural engagement. Through initiatives such as the Islamic Lecture Programme, Public Bayan Programmes, SLMQ Qur’an Classes, Qur’an Class Competition, Ramadan Ifthar Programmes, Eid Prayers, and Eid Fiesta 2010, the community continued to strengthen its commitment to faith, unity, and Islamic values. These activities not only enriched the spiritual lives of participants but also reinforced the enduring bonds that unite Sri Lankan Muslim families in Qatar.
