The year 2002 marked an important beginning for the educational initiatives of Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar (SLMQ). Guided by its mission to promote learning, personal growth, and community development, SLMQ introduced a range of educational programs designed to benefit children, youth, women, and families within the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar.
Throughout the year, a variety of educational and skill-development activities were organized to encourage continuous learning and strengthen community engagement. Quran Classes and Islamic Public Lectures in English and Tamil provided opportunities for participants to enhance their religious knwledge and understanding. These programs helped foster a stronger connection to faith while encouraging meaningful discussions on values and personal development.
Recognizing the importance of language and communication skills, SLMQ also conducted Sinhala Language Classes and Speech Craft Programs for children. These initiatives aimed to improve communication abilities, build confidence, and support the overall development of young learners.
As technology became increasingly important in everyday life, Computer Classes for Children and Women were organized, enabling participants to gain valuable digital skills. Educational Classes for Children further supported academic growth and learning opportunities within the community.
In addition to academic and religious education, SLMQ introduced special courses such as Stitching Classes, Cookery Classes, and Painting Classes. These practical programs provided participants with opportunities to develop new skills, explore their creativity, and enhance their personal capabilities.
The educational initiatives of 2002 laid a strong foundation for future programs and reflected SLMQ's commitment to empowering individuals through knowledge, skills, and lifelong learning. These early efforts contributed significantly to building a stronger, more informed, and connected community.
