Education remained one of the cornerstone initiatives of Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar (SLMQ) during 2007. Through scholarships, learning programmes, competitions, and skills development initiatives, the organization continued its mission of nurturing knowledge and creating opportunities for students and families.

One of the most significant achievements of the year was the continued expansion of the Advanced Level Scholarship Programme. The scholarship scheme, which supported deserving students pursuing their G.C.E. Advanced Level studies, successfully entered its second year. Twenty-five students from across Sri Lanka continued to receive monthly educational assistance, while an additional batch of twenty-five students was selected to benefit from a new scholarship cycle. Regular workshops and guidance sessions were conducted to motivate students and monitor their academic progress.

SLMQ also extended educational assistance to students of Islahiya Arabic College, supporting seven deserving students in pursuing their studies in Arabic language and Islamic education. In addition, financial support was provided to a needy medical student, marking an important educational initiative that helped a student continue undergraduate studies.

A major highlight of the year was the successful continuation of the SLMQ Quran Classes, which entered their sixth consecutive year. Conducted by qualified teachers, these classes provided children with structured learning in Quran recitation, Duas, Hadith, and Islamic teachings. The programme remained one of SLMQ’s most valued educational projects, benefiting young learners across the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar.

The annual Quran Class Competitions held in April 2007 provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents in Quran recitation, Quran memorization, Islamic speeches, and Islamic quizzes. The event encouraged confidence, healthy competition, and a deeper appreciation for Islamic learning among participants.

Another noteworthy initiative was the introduction of Spoken Arabic Classes for members. Conducted in collaboration with Qatar Guest Center, the programme enabled participants to develop practical language skills and improve communication abilities.

Educational development was further encouraged through the 59th Sri Lanka Independence Day Competitions, where children participated in colouring, drawing, essay writing, and public speaking events. These activities fostered creativity, communication skills, and cultural awareness while providing a platform for young talents to shine.

Through these diverse educational initiatives, SLMQ continued to invest in the intellectual, personal, and spiritual development of the community. The achievements of 2007 reflected the organization's unwavering commitment to empowering individuals through education and lifelong learning.
