SRI LANKAN MAJLIS – QATAR (SLMQ)
Established 2001 · Patronage of Sri Lankan Embassy
In 2001, twelve likeminded individuals came together to create a non-profit association which would bring together all Muslim Sri Lankan families living in Qatar under one community. What began with a handful of families in its year of inception, today consists of over 150+ families. Through a well-established network spanning across government ministries, private organizations and other social and religious associations in Qatar, the SLMQ enforces its key role – community building and development.
SLMQ’s contribution towards the Sri Lankan Muslim community, in Qatar and Sri Lanka has been recognized and appreciated in both countries. The role of the Majlis and its Executive Committee are governed by a Charter, while the primary source for decision making and conduct is based on Islamic values and teachings.
