The year 2024 was a meaningful chapter for Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar (SLMQ) as members gathered under the inspiring theme “Collective Responsibility.” The theme emphasized the importance of unity, mutual support, and the shared duty of preserving Islamic values within the community. Throughout the year, religious gatherings and faith-centered programs strengthened the spiritual connection among members while reinforcing the principles that have guided the organization since its establishment.

A significant religious event during the year was the Islamic Bayan Program – “Welcoming Ramadan,” held on 7th March 2024. The program featured an enlightening lecture delivered by Sheikh Hassan Fareed Moulavi, who reminded attendees about the spiritual significance of Ramadan and the importance of preparing hearts and minds for the blessed month. The gathering provided members with valuable guidance and inspiration as they anticipated the arrival of Ramadan, fostering a deeper appreciation of Islamic teachings and practices.

Another notable occasion was the Annual Iftar Program, held on 21st March 2024 during the holy month of Ramadan. The event brought together families and community members in a spirit of brotherhood and gratitude. A special bayan focusing on the virtues of fasting and its spiritual benefits enriched the gathering, encouraging participants to reflect on the deeper purpose of Ramadan. The program was further enhanced by the performance of Tharaweeh Prayers, creating an atmosphere of devotion, reflection, and collective worship.

The year’s symposium theme, “Collective Responsibility,” resonated strongly with the Islamic principle that believers are interconnected and accountable for supporting one another in faith and righteousness. Through religious gatherings and spiritual discussions, members were reminded that strengthening the community begins with strengthening individual faith, compassion, and commitment to Islamic values.

As SLMQ celebrated its 21st Annual Symposium, 2024 stood as a year that highlighted the enduring importance of faith, unity, and spiritual growth. Through meaningful religious programs and collective acts of worship, the organization continued to nurture a strong Islamic identity among Sri Lankan Muslim families in Qatar while inspiring a renewed sense of responsibility toward the wider community.
