The year 2022 marked a significant milestone for Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar as the organization celebrated its 20th Annual Symposium under the inspiring theme “Building Community Leadership.” After the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the year represented a renewed opportunity for members to reconnect, strengthen bonds, and revive the organization’s tradition of fostering unity through faith-centered activities.

One of the most meaningful religious gatherings of the year was the Annual Ramadan Ifthar Program, held on 14th April 2022 at Phoenix School, Doha. The event brought together SLMQ members and their families in an atmosphere of brotherhood, gratitude, and spiritual reflection during the holy month of Ramadan. After a prolonged period of restrictions and limited gatherings, the ifthar provided a valuable opportunity for the community to once again experience the blessings of collective worship and fellowship.

The year also reflected the organization’s continued commitment to nurturing Islamic values and leadership within the community. Guided by the theme “Building Community Leadership,” SLMQ emphasized the importance of unity, responsibility, and service rooted in Islamic principles. The leadership encouraged members from diverse backgrounds to come together under a shared vision of strengthening the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar through mutual support and active participation.

Throughout 2022, the organization reaffirmed its dedication to promoting faith-based engagement and community cohesion. The message of leadership inspired by Islamic teachings remained central to the year’s activities, highlighting the importance of guiding communities through compassion, integrity, and devotion to Allah. This vision was further reinforced during the 20th Symposium celebrations, which recognized two decades of efforts dedicated to bringing Sri Lankan Muslim families together under a common platform.

As SLMQ commemorated its twentieth anniversary, the year stood as a testament to resilience, renewal, and the enduring strength of community spirit. Through the successful revival of religious gatherings and the continued emphasis on Islamic values, 2022 became a year of reconnecting hearts, strengthening faith, and preparing future generations to lead with purpose and responsibility.
