The year 2019 was a period of spiritual enrichment and meaningful engagement for Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar as it continued its journey under the inspiring theme “Together Towards Tomorrow.” Through a series of faith-centered initiatives and religious gatherings, the organization created opportunities for members of the community to strengthen their connection with Islamic teachings while fostering unity and mutual understanding.
A significant highlight of the year was the Islamic Tamil Lecture Program, held on 30th March at the Fanar Auditorium. Conducted by the distinguished scholar Shaikh Hasan Fareed, the program attracted more than 200 participants from both the men's and women's communities. The lecture offered valuable insights into Islamic principles and encouraged attendees to deepen their understanding of faith and its practical application in everyday life. The event provided a platform for spiritual reflection and learning, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.
Another major religious milestone was Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar’s partnership in organizing the 4th Doha Islamic Convention at the iconic Katara Amphitheatre. Conducted in collaboration with Qatar Islamic Events International (QIEI), Fanar, and AWQAF, the convention brought together internationally renowned scholars including Mufti Ismail Menk, Shaikh Omar Suleiman, Shaikh Abdulraheem McCarthy, Shaikh Yehya Thahir, and Shaikh Muhammed Makki. Their inspiring lectures and discussions offered profound guidance on contemporary Islamic issues, attracting large audiences and enriching the spiritual lives of participants.
In preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan, the Ladies’ Wing organized the exclusive “Welcome Ramadan” program on 19th April. Attended by more than one hundred participants, the event focused on spiritual readiness, personal reflection, and strengthening one’s relationship with Allah. Through interactive discussions and meaningful engagement, attendees were encouraged to embrace the sacred month with renewed devotion and purpose.
Although the annual Ramadan Ifthar Program could not be conducted due to the tragic Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka, the decision reflected a spirit of solidarity and compassion. The organization stood together with fellow Sri Lankans during a difficult period, demonstrating the Islamic values of empathy and unity.
The year concluded with another successful initiative dedicated to personal well-being and faith-based living. The Women and Wellness program, held on 11th October, focused on reviving the Prophetic lifestyle and the wisdom of Islamic approaches to health and wellness. The interactive session encouraged participants to integrate spiritual values into daily life while drawing inspiration from the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Through lectures, conventions, Ramadan-focused programs, and initiatives promoting Prophetic teachings, Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar continued to nurture a spiritually connected community throughout 2019. These efforts reflected the organization’s commitment to strengthening faith, encouraging lifelong learning, and bringing people together through shared religious values and understanding.
