The year 2015 marked another meaningful milestone in the journey of Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar as members gathered to celebrate shared values, strengthen spiritual connections, and reflect on the principles that guide Muslim life. Through a carefully organized annual gathering, the organization continued its mission of preserving religious identity while fostering unity among Sri Lankan Muslims living in Qatar.

A key highlight of the year was the SLMQ Symposium 2015, held under the theme “The Concept of Education in Islam.” While the symposium explored the Islamic perspective on knowledge, its broader significance lay in reaffirming the religious foundations that shape personal character, ethical conduct, and community life. The event provided a platform for participants to engage in thoughtful discussions on Islamic teachings and their relevance in the modern world.

The symposium featured a keynote address by Sheikh Muiz Bukhary, a respected Islamic scholar from Sri Lanka. His presentation emphasized the central place of knowledge in Islamic tradition, highlighting how the pursuit of wisdom has been deeply connected to faith since the earliest days of Islam. Drawing upon historical examples from Islamic civilization, the keynote encouraged attendees to appreciate the rich spiritual and intellectual heritage of the Muslim world.

The discussions also reflected on the enduring values of responsibility, moral integrity, and the proper use of knowledge for the betterment of society. By examining the contributions of past Muslim scholars and the role of faith in guiding human progress, participants gained a deeper understanding of how Islamic principles continue to inspire positive action and personal growth.

A particularly inspiring aspect of the symposium was the recognition of the contributions made by both men and women throughout Islamic history in preserving and spreading knowledge. These reflections reinforced the inclusive nature of Islamic scholarship and highlighted the importance of nurturing future generations within a framework of strong moral and religious values.

Beyond the keynote sessions, the gathering provided an opportunity for members and families to come together in an atmosphere of brotherhood and mutual respect. The event strengthened community bonds while encouraging meaningful conversations on faith, identity, and the responsibilities shared by Muslims living in diverse societies.

Through SLMQ Symposium 2015, Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to promoting religious awareness, preserving cultural identity, and fostering unity among its members. The year’s activities reflected a continuing dedication to strengthening faith-based values while building a cohesive and vibrant community for future generations.
