The year 2003 was marked by significant progress in SLMQ’s commitment to education, personal development, and community empowerment. Through a combination of academic support, religious education, and skill-building initiatives, SLMQ continued to create meaningful opportunities for children, youth, and families within the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Qatar and beyond.
One of the notable achievements during the year was the provision of financial assistance to deserving university students, enabling them to continue their higher education. In addition, a series of skill development workshops were conducted for undergraduates to enhance their knowledge, strengthen their capabilities, and encourage them to contribute positively to society.
Educational and religious learning remained a key focus throughout the year. The Quran class project successfully continued for its second year, benefiting children from various backgrounds and helping them strengthen their understanding of Islamic teachings. Monthly Islamic lectures provided valuable opportunities for families to expand their religious knowledge and engage in meaningful discussions on important topics.
SLMQ also encouraged the development of communication, creativity, and confidence among young learners. As part of the Sri Lanka Independence Day celebrations, open competitions in colouring, drawing, and public speaking were organized for children, attracting enthusiastic participation from across the community. Quran memorization and recitation competitions further encouraged students to develop their religious knowledge and presentation skills.
Summer activities and family-oriented educational programs provided additional opportunities for learning, creativity, and talent development. These initiatives helped participants make productive use of their time while fostering stronger community bonds.
Through these educational efforts, SLMQ continued to invest in knowledge, character development, and lifelong learning, reinforcing its vision of building an empowered and progressive community for future generations.
